Barbara Ann (Dougherty) Patterson of Newark, DE, passed away at Christiana Hospice on Monday, November 28, 2022.

Born on July 10, 1941 in Worthington, PA, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Phyllis (Pence) Dougherty. Barbara was retired from Shop Rite where she worked with her late husband, Jim.

Barbara loved time with family and friends. After moving to Paramount Assisted Living in April of 2021, she enjoyed playing bingo, dominos, participating in craft making and always enjoyed happy hour with the new friends she had made there.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her sisters, Nancy Riley of Freeport, PA and Gloria Geraldine (Gerri) Turney of Mt. Holly, NJ; daughter, Dianna Louise Mauthe; husband, James Patterson; and step daughter-in-law, Donna Patterson. She is survived by her brother, Walter Dougherty (Jackie) of Kittanning, PA; sons, Ronald Mauthe (Melinda) and Steven Mauthe (Lisa) of Newark, DE; stepson, Jack Patterson of Toms River, NJ; grandchildren, Dianna Mauthe of Newark, DE, Zachary Taylor of Elkton, Steven and Travis Mauthe of Middletown, DE, and Eddie and Jessica Patterson of Toms River, NJ; beloved nieces, Lucy Sanoba (Eric) and Betsy Wranich (Steve); and nephews, David Hidinger (Mary) of Freeport, PA and Scott Hidinger (Chrissy) of Newark, DE.

The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the amazing nursing staff of Christiana Care (5A and B), as well as the caring and compassionate staff on the 6th floor Hospice Unit. A special thanks to Candayce and McKenna and all her wonderful friends at Paramount.

All services will be held privately. Barbara will be interred beside her daughter, Diana.
