Ms. Barbara Harriet (Shuart) Scott, age 84, of Wilmington, DE, and formerly of Newark, DE, passed away on Friday, April 6, 2012.
Barbara was born on March 20, 1928 in Suffern, NY and was the daughter of the late Theodore B. Shuart and Olga King Shuart. She was raised in Mahwah, NJ and later attended high school in Ramsey, NJ. Barbara then returned to Suffern where she was employed with the Avon Company from 1944 until 1951. She transferred to the company’s Newark, DE facility in 1951 where she worked until 1957. Barbara then accepted a position with National Vulcanized Fiber Company as a senior account clerk, working at both the Yorklyn, DE and Kennett Square, PA plants until her retirement in 1986.
Barbara is survived by her uncle, Curtis Shuart of Suffern, NY; nephews, Ted Shuart and Greg Shuart, both of Cobleskill, NY; and her dear friends, William E. “Mike” and Cheryl Suthard of Wilmington and Dale Mellinger of Middletown.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 9 am until 10 am at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 am at the St. James Episcopal Church, 2106 St. James Church Road, Wilmington, DE. Interment will follow in the adjoining St. James Episcopal Church Cemetery.
