Barbara J. Hudson, age 92, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 28, 2022.

Born in Collingdale, PA on February 1, 1930, she was a daughter of the late William H. Smith III and Mary Smith. Barbara’s real love in life was being a mother and grandmother and spending time with her family.

Dedicated to her faith and community, Barbara was a member of Union United Methodist Church in Bear and a member at Howard Weston Senior Center for over 25 years where she enjoyed going on trips and cruises and painting ceramics and being the Queen Bee of the Red Hat Society.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Hudson, Sr.; son, Ronald Hudson; and siblings, Albert Smith, William Smith IV, Jack Smith, and Shirley Lambert. She is survived by her children, Robert Hudson, Jr. (Lisa) of Bear, William Hudson (Maryjane) of Bear, Pamela Brousseau (Donald) of Bear, and Sherie Kerr (David) of Newark; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; brother, Robert Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 pm until 1 pm on Friday, December 2, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 1 pm. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
