Betty Irene Donnachie, formerly of Lebanon, PA, began her eternal rest on February 5, 2013.
Betty was one of five children, born in Porter Township, Schuylkill County, PA, on March 24, 1928, to Henry and Esther (Hain) Confair.
She is survived by her son, the Rev. Dr. Thomas Donnachie and his wife, Judith of Lewes, DE; granddaughters, Melanie Donnachie of Exeter, RI, and Megan Donnachie of Glasgow, Scotland; brother, Robert (Peggy) Confair of Myerstown, PA; sister, Nancy (Ronald) Peiffer of Jonestown, PA; many nieces and nephews; and her dog, Max.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Donnachie; her parents; and brothers, Raymond and Butch Confair, both of Lebanon, PA.
Betty began her working career at Sears Roebuck in the catalog department. When the stored expanded to the Lebanon Plaza she became the head cashier. After a brief layoff she became employed by the Boscov’s Department store, where she worked until age 82 as a salesperson.
Betty thoroughly enjoyed her working days–especially talking with her many beloved customers. When she wasn’t selling clothing she enjoyed shopping for the latest fashions. At times throughout her life she enjoyed reading, knitting, a trip to the Wildwood shore, fun at Hershey Park, her weekly hairdresser appointment, and visits to her grandchildren. Betty was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church (formerly Centenary Methodist Church) in Lebanon, PA.
Family and friends are invited to a Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving to be held on Saturday, February 9th, beginning at 11 am at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Eighth and Willow Streets, Lebanon, PA. A luncheon at the church will follow the service.
She will be interred along with her husband at the Indiantown Gap National Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 757 Willow St., Lebanon, PA 17046.
