Betty Jane Bobrowski

Betty Jane Tubbs Bobrowski (84) went home to be with the Lord on March 10, 2013 after a long bout with cancer. She was born May 8, 1928 to Harvey and Esther Dempsey Tubbs. Betty married the love of her life, Victor Bobrowski, on February 2, 1951 and together shared 59 wonderful married years. Vic predeceased her on August 13, 2010.
Betty loved traveling all over the United States, especially to Florida, and instantly made friends wherever she went. She worked outside of the home, most recently at WSFS Bank, until she retired to spend more time fishing and crabbing at their cottage near Bethany Beach.
She enjoyed the Howard Weston Senior Center and volunteered many hours at the Nemours Hospital, always bringing a smile to the patients and staff with her cheerfulness.
Betty was a forty-year member of the Minquadale Fire House Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed many volunteer hours preparing meals for the crews and guests there. She never missed a chance to serve others and was a great mentor for the younger ladies.
Betty was a devout Catholic and longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima Church.
Although she had no children of her own, Betty was loved as a second mother by many. “Aunt Betty” is survived by her nephews, James Brooks (Gail) of Burke, VA, Gary Brooks of New Castle, DE, Norman Brooks, Jr. (Shirley) of Middletown, DE, Harry Davis, Sr. (Dolly) and Alex Davis (Janice) of Middletown, and Edward Davis of New Castle; and nieces, Deborah Steinbrunner (Joel) of Landenberg, PA, Cynthia Brooks and Deborah McCall of Newark, DE, Sandra Langford (Jim) of Clear Brook, VA, and Betty Jane Loew (George) and Michelle Glenning of Bridgeton, NJ.
She is also survived by 30 great-nieces and nephews and 10 great-great-nieces and nephews, plus Joe and Patty Hoopes of New Castle, with her goddaughter, Patty-Jo Bolinski, and her Uncle Walter Tubbs (age 100) of New Castle, DE.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Betty was predeceased by her sisters, Doris T. Brooks of Newark, DE and Dorothy T. Altman of Bridgeton, NJ.
Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, March 14th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Friday, March 15th, at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
