Betty M. Baynard, age 86, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, March 9, 2024.

Born in Wilmington, DE, on October 25, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Charles H. and Leva S. (Lathbury) McDowell. Betty worked as a laundress at the Quality Inn in New Castle for 35 years until her retirement.

Betty was a fan of Betty Boop. She loved spending time with her family and her dogs.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Teddy Roosevelt Baynard; daughter, Brenda B. Rodriguez; and siblings, Doris Graham, Ruby Ramsay, Clifford McDowell, Andy McDowell, Junior McDowell, Garner McDowell, Phil McDowell, and Catherine Davis. She is survived by her children, Phyllis A. Baynard, Terrie L. Rowles, and Teddy W. Baynard; sister, Geneva Holcomb; grandchildren, Amy Perdomo, Eric Baynard, Savanna Gonzalez, and Brenda Baynard; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2200 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty’s memory to Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses.
