Betty Virginia Lucas

Betty Virginia Lucas, age 93, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017.
Betty was born in Chesapeake City, MD on September 20, 1923, and was the daughter of the late H. Morton and Ellen L. (Campbell) Price. She worked for the DuPont Company as a clerk and typist during the 1960’s and later accepted a position as the fundraising secretary for the National Kidney Foundation where she worked for many years.
Active in her community, Betty was a member of the Fraim Senior Center in Wilmington. She was an avid reader, loved vegetable gardening and enjoyed travelling. A devoted and loving mother and grandmother, Betty will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Lucas; brothers, David R. Price and Jack Price; and sister, Kathleen Marcozzi. Betty is survived by her children, Cheryl Palmer Richards, Cynthia L. Jones and Douglas H. Palmer; and grandchildren, Ellyn and Benjamin Jones.
The family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Kutz Home for the exceptional care provided to Betty.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm on Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12:30 pm. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betty’s memory may be made to the Kutz Home, 704 River Rd., Wilmington, DE 19809.
