Bonnie Jean Rae-Smith
June 16, 1950 - December 9, 2022
Bonnie Jean Rae-Smith, age 72, of Middletown, DE, formerly of Shirley, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 9, 2022.
Born in Ludlow, MA on June 16, 1950, Bonnie was a daughter of the late Douglas F. and Alberta (Abby) Tompkins Rae. She was employed by Verizon until her retirement in 2009.
Bonnie’s star shone brighter than most and few who met her ever forgot her. She lived her life with generosity and flair. Bonnie’s passions were her family and friends, painting and her dogs, all of which brought her countless hours of pleasure. Painting brought many into her worldwide circle of friends and they stayed for her humor, opinions and advice. From her hair to her jewelry, Bonnie did everything in life with a style that was unmistakably Bonnie.
She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Smith of New Castle, DE and adored son, Chris Smith of New Castle, DE. Bonnie is also survived by her devoted sister, Deborah Rae of Middletown, DE and beloved dogs, Cookie and Phoebe.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 pm until 4 pm on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A private burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Humane Association, 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801 or by clicking here.
