Carol A. Young

Carol A. Young, age 84, of Middletown, DE, formerly of Newark, passed away suddenly on Friday, August 27, 2021.
Born in Dover, NJ, on September 28, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Donald E. and Nila (Wellington) Kyle. Carol was a graduate of the University of Delaware where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. While at the University of Delaware, she met the love of her life, Robert Young. They married on June 14, 1958, and spent 33 wonderful years together. They had two children, Donald and Robin.
Carol went to work for the city of Newark and dedicated over 40 years to the city as a bookkeeper and payroll specialist, retiring in 2009. When she wasn’t working, you could find Carol curled up with an iced tea and a good book or watching the Atlanta Braves on television. In the Summer, she loved to sit on the beach and watch the waves and her children and grandchildren play in the sand.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Young (1991). She is survived by her children, Donald J. Young (Bridget) and Robin C. Davenport (Dennis), both of Middletown; grandchildren, Robert Larkin, Timothy Larkin, Michelle Young, Andrew Young, Patrick Young, Kevin Young, and Sean Young; and great-granddaughter, Ally Young.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE. A second visitation will be held from 10:30 am until 11: 30 am on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at the funeral home, where a funeral service will begin at 11:30 am. Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance not immunized with the COVID-19 vaccine per the Governor of Delaware. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd, Bear, DE.
