Catherine Talarowski

Mrs. Catherine C. Talarowski, known fondly as “Kay,” age 79, of Newark, DE, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2013, at her home.
A native Delawarean, Mrs. Talarowski was born in Wilmington on December 31, 1933, daughter of the late John Callahan, Sr. and Mary Waldis Callahan. She was a graduate of St. Elizabeth High School in Wilmington and would go on to work in the accounts payable division of the DuPont Company for ten years.
Mrs. Talarowski was a devout Catholic throughout her life and a longtime member of St. John’s-Holy Angels parish. She also volunteered with the Special Olympics for many years.
A talented and resourceful homemaker, Mrs. Talarowski devoted her life to caring for her beloved husband, children, and grandchildren. She will be sadly and deeply missed by the many people who loved her. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Francis D. Talarowski; children, Stephen A. Talarowski (Crystal) of Newark, Andrew M. Talarowski (Margaret) of Claymont, Paula Talarowski of Newark, and Katherine Raiford (Jon) of Newark; brother, George Callahan of Newport; sister, Mabel Callahan Galu of Highland Falls, NY; and grandchildren, Kaitlin, Sara, David, Zachary, Daniel, and Haley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Callahan, Jr., and sister, Mary Callahan Bauerlin.
Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 am on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Holy Angels R.C. Church, 82 Possum Park Road, Newark. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington.
