Charles J. Schneider

Born: 6/11/1920
Died: 5/13/2013

Mr. Charles J. Schneider, age 92, of Newark and Rehoboth, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013.
Mr. Schneider was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on June 11, 1920, son of the late George J. Schneider and Hilda A. Ziegler Schneider. A sergeant in the US Army Air Corps, he proudly served his country during World War II as a maintenance specialist for both cargo aircraft and bombers. In civilian life, his gifts as a master mechanic led him to accept a position with the DuPont Company, where he retired as a maintenance supervisor in 1978.
Mr. Schneider greatly enjoyed spending time on the water throughout his life. For many years, he owned a retirement home on the Rehoboth Bay, where he looked forward to both boating and fishing. He was also a longtime member of the Bellview Rod & Gun Club in Sinnemahoning, PA. Even in his leisure hours, he delighted in the many challenges of home repair and maintenance; he especially enjoyed sharing his knowledge and experience to assist his family and friends with their own repair and construction projects.
His beloved wife of 62 years, Florence Ruth Flynn Schneider, passed away in 2007. He is survived by his children, Mary M. Borecki (Thomas) of Middletown, Joseph T. Schneider (Susan) of Newark, Robert C. Schneider (Barbara) of New London, PA, and Susan Schneider of Elkton, MD; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Holy Family R.C. Church, E. Chestnut Hill and Gender Roads, Newark, where visitation will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will be held privately in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
The family respectfully requests that flowers be omitted.
