Clifford E. “Gene” McMahon, Jr., age 68, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.

Born in Columbus, OH, on January 30, 1954, he was a son of the late Clifford E. and Mary (Rutherford) McMahon, Sr. Gene proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He made his career as a steel fabricator and erector at several local companies.

Gene was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed playing horseshoes.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his son, Michael Lee McMahon. He is survived by his children, Clifford E. McMahon III (Valerie), and Kelli Ann McMahon (Thomas); siblings, Terry McMahon, Alan McMahon, Brian McMahon, and Darryl McMahon; and grandchildren, Victoria, Natalie, Athena, and Joshua.

A committal service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE

  • My deepest sympathies to all members of the McMahon family..I am very saddened & sorry for your loss.
    Watching his memorial brought back a flood of memories. So many good times! Although I hadn’t seen him in some time..in those pictures he had aged beautifully. I will remember him fondly. He served this country with pride. May he rest in paradise along with other family members. I can see Mike greeting him with pops as he crossed over..smiling with a big grins on all of their faces.
