Colleen S. Tyre, age 70, a lifelong resident of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, November 27, 2020.

Born on July 28, 1950, she was a daughter of Colleen (Schmidt) and the late John Sturgis. During the summer following her graduation from Dickinson High School, she met the love of her life who she shared 52 years of her life with.

For 30 years, Colleen touched the lives of many children as a school bus driver for Boulden Bus Company. She loved each and every child she drove and was affectionately called “Mother”.

Colleen will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend to many. She had a special place in her heart for all animals and was known to care for many strays. Colleen’s greatest joy in life was being a grandmother.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Sturgis. Colleen will be greatly missed by her husband, Robert W. Tyre; mother, Colleen Sturgis; children, Robert Tyre II (Jennifer) and Julie Piatt; sisters, Sandra Garber (Kevin) and Suzanne Farrall; and grandchildren, Elizabeth Robinett, Logan Tyre, Blake Piatt, and Jackson Tyre.

All services will be held privately.
