Connie Lee Prettyman
Connie Lee Prettyman, age 77, of Newark, DE, died on Monday, June 10, 2024.
A proud Delaware native, Connie was raised in Bear, DE, where she enjoyed horseback riding with her many friends for years. She graduated from Newark High School with honors and attended the University of Delaware. Connie worked as an administrative assistant for the Methodist Country House and the University of Delaware.
A long-time member of Saint Thomas’s Episcopal Church in Newark, she belonged to many Bible study groups and served on various committees. She was also active in The Altar Guild, taught Bible and Sunday School, and took a Pilgrimage to Scotland with fellow Parishioners and their Priest. In later years, Connie became an active member of St. James’ Mill Creek Episcopal Church.
She loved to travel to islands including Cuba, but most especially England, Ireland, and Scotland. In later years, Connie enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and the United States with her dear friend, Will. They also loved theatre, concerts, gardening and boating together. Her other pastimes were reading, volunteering at the Hagley Museum, and football. Connie was a loyal and devoted fan of the Blue Hens and the Dallas Cowboys.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, and husband. She is survived by her brother, Harold Benjamin Prettyman III and his wife, Ruthann; and her beloved and “dear to her heart” nephew and niece, Harold Benjamin Prettyman IV and Julieann Prettyman.
A celebration of life service will begin at 11 am on Monday, June 24, 2024, at St. James’ Mill Creek Episcopal Church, 2106 St. James Church Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Inurnment will be held privately.
