Mrs. Cullen J. Taylor, age 70, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2013.
Born in Richmond, VA, on February 7, 1943, Cullen was the first born of Charles H. Johnson and Margaret Dowd Johnson. After graduating from Holy Child Academy in Sharon Hill, PA, and Keystone Business School in Springfield, PA, she married “the boy across the street,” Robert A. Taylor.
Cullen enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitching, making Christmas tree ornaments, and decorating her home for every holiday. She loved listening to the Phillies, the Eagles, and the Flyers on the radio. Most of all, she relished time spent with her family and cats.
For 35 years, Cullen was a very active and dedicated volunteer with the Del-Mar-Va Council of the Boy Scouts of America. For her many impressive efforts and achievements on behalf of local scouting, she was honored with a number of training awards including the Wood Badge Beads. She also received the prestigious Award of Merit and Silver Beaver Award.
After 46 years of marriage, Bob passed away in 2010. Cullen is survived by their son, Robert A. Taylor of Bear; their daughter, Christine T. Smith and husband, David, of Hurricane, WV; her sisters, Barbara Johnson of Kona, HI, and M. Kay Robinson of Marcus Hook, PA; and three granddaughters, Katherine G. Smith, Margaret M. Smith, and Nicole F. Taylor.
Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm on Friday, March 22, 2013, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington.
