Daniel R. Hough, age 88 of Bear, DE, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2020.

Born in Ruffsdale, PA on February 15, 1932, he was a son of the late Robert T. and Mary Winifred (Null) Hough. Daniel proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked as a maintenance mechanic at Forbes Steel in Wilmington for 20 years. Daniel then went on to work as a carpenter for Watco Construction Company until he retired in 1998. He enjoyed woodworking in his spare time, repairing furniture for family and friends. Daniel could often be found tending to his gardens of beautiful flowers and fresh vegetables. A devoted Christian, he was an usher and lifelong member of Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Newark.

In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his wife, Christina L. (Jaquette) Hough; and siblings, Ellen Fox and James Hough. He is survived by his children, Laura A. Treese (Garland) of Quarryville, PA, Leah Hough (Michael Taylor) of Wilmington and Robert C. Hough of Bear; grandchildren, Garland Treese and Lauren Husbands; and siblings, John Hough, Lawrence Hough, Gene Hough, Joan McIntyre, Walter Hough and Margaret Roble.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 12 noon on Friday, March 13, 2020, at Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Newark, 308 Possum Park Road, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Daniel’s memory to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.

  • It was always a delight to see Daniel in the narthex after church on Sundays. He was a quiet, sweet man with a cute smile. Praising God he is with Jesus now. Praying for your family.
