          Dawn Simmers Campbell, age 79, of Newark, DE, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2019, surrounded by her family.

          Born in Lancaster, PA on December 12, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Mary (Norton) Simon.  Dawn loved food, was a great cook and owned a local sub shop for many years.

          She always had a smile on her face, enjoyed people and had a fun and loving personality.  Dawn took pride in entertaining and her greatest pleasure was feeding those around her.  She loved to talk and tell stories, enjoyed watching TV and movies and took an interest in all jewelry, especially with rare stones.  Dawn had many collections of butterflies, frogs and Indians.  She liked reading horoscopes and sharing with family and friends.  No job was too big for Dawn, she could fix anything and loved helping people.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. Campbell; son, Melvin Simmers; and sister, June Hamilton.  Dawn is survived by her son, James Simmers of Newark, DE; brother, Vernon Simon of Holtwood, PA; sisters, Charlotte Henderson of Quarryville, PA, Kathleen Lewis of Strasburg, PA and Susan Baughman of Gordonville, PA; granddaughters, Ashley Harrison, Stephanie Simmers and Heather Simmers, all of Newark; and 2 great grandchildren.

          A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11:30 am.  Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Park, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
