Delta L. Marrs - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Delta L. Marrs

June 3, 1941 - April 5, 2024

Delta L. Marrs, age 82, of New Castle, DE, was called home to with our Lord on Friday, April 5, 2024.

Born in Mudfork, VA on June 3, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Marie Estelle (Williams) Hicks. Delta had a beautiful soul that would light up a whole room, her presence was always felt. Her sweet smile was so warm and welcoming that a complete stranger would just stop and talk to her and she welcomed them with such kindness and love. Delta taught her family to help those in need and never look for anything in return. Her passion for her family was unwavering, her grandchildren and great-grands lit up her world. Although our hearts ache from her departure, we are grateful for God blessing our family with an angel we called Mom.

In addition to her parents, Delta was preceded in death by her husband, Braxton L. T. Marrs; daughter, Tina Martindale; and siblings, Elmer Hicks, Lester Hicks, Lee Hicks, Robert Hicks, Jean Dye, and Frank Hicks. She is survived by her children, Debbie Gawel (Jerry), Randy Marrs (Diana), Thomas Marrs (Shirley), and Roy Marrs (Cynthia); grandchildren, Eric Gawel (Kirstyn), Miles Gawel (Nicole), Joey Martindale (Hillary), Christopher Martindale, Steven Martindale (Haley), Randy Marrs II (Meredith), Samantha Marrs, Tiffany Anderson (Lewis), Shanna Marrs, Tara Patterson, Jessica Marrs, LeeAnna Marrs, and Alex Marrs; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Iris Nunley; brother, Arnold Hicks (Lillian); dear friends, Dottie Syva and Debbie Moore; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be deeply missed by all, there are no words that can express the magnitude of the love she shared with her family, friends, neighbors, and complete strangers.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A funeral service will begin 2 pm on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the funeral home.  Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
