Dixie Curtice

December 29, 1934 - December 1, 2020

Dixie Curtice, age 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at Foulk Manor South in Wilmington, DE, her home for the past few years. She will always be remembered by family and friends as a smiling, effervescent woman who was a friend to everyone she met.

Dixie was born and raised in Cortland, NY to Brucile and Carl “Chugger” Davis. She met her husband, Dr. Walter R. Curtice, while in high school at a YMCA dance. They both attended Cornell University and married soon after. After settling in Princeton Junction, NJ, Dixie pursued a career as a county 4-H agent and then as a successful real estate agent and broker. In 1984, they purchased a beach house on Long Beach Island, which quickly became a favorite place for them and for many family gatherings.

In addition to her parents, Dixie is predeceased by her brother, John P. Davis.  She is survived by her husband, Dr. Walter Curtice, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage; her children, Christine Kitson (Robert) of Newark, DE, Cynthia McAllister (Dr. Brian) of Middletown, DE, and Dr. Walter Scott Curtice (Kelley) of Westerly, RI; sister in-law, Joyce Davis; nephews, Glenn Davis (Patty), Robley Evans Curtice III (Suzy) and their 3 children, and Jason Curtice (Cristina) and their 2 children; niece, Denise Dickson; and grandchildren, Christopher, Joy, Brennan, Colleen, Craig, Cayden, Ariana, and Kaelyn.

Dixie’s family would like to thank the staff at Foulk Manor North and Foulk Manor South for their care for her over the years.

Due to COVID restrictions, services will be private. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
