Donald C. Hasson, age 80, of New Castle, passed away at his residence on Monday, July 2, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Chester, PA on January 29, 1938, he was the son of the late Clarence J. and Shirley (Miles) Hasson. Donald graduated from Eddystone High School in PA. Following graduation, he proudly served in the U.S. Army. Donald worked for Sun Shipbuilding & Drydock Company and Scott Paper in the foam division before dedicating his 37 year career with DuPont as a laboratory technician and senior distribution specialist.

Donald was a member of the Mason Dixon VFW Post # 7234 in Ocean View, DE. His hobbies included photography, needlepoint, gardening, reading, listening to all types of music and bird watching with his wife. Donald’s fondest memories were with his family and friends at his beach house in South Bethany.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Carol M. (Beaston) Hasson; children, Daniel E. Hasson of New Castle, Diana C. Rager (Jason) of Souderton, PA and David D. Hasson (Courtney) of Lusby, MD; sisters, Frances Hasson of Fenwick Island and Cheryl Fizzano of Wallingford, PA; granddaughter, Miki Aurora Rager; and many more loving, extended family members and friends.

The funeral service and interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Donald’s name to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60611 or to the Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Chapter, 399 Market St, #102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.

  • Don always lit up our family party. He was not only the loving Papi to Miki, but also attentive to our other grandchildren whenever he was around. His sense of humor and charm will surely live on in Miki.
