Mrs. Doris L. Cloud-Chambers, age 67, of Newark, DE, formerly of Brooklyn, NY, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2012.
Born in Manhattan, NY, on October 4, 1944, Doris was the daughter of the late Gilbert Parris and Helen Jackson Parris Holder. She made her career with the New York City Transit Authority, where she retired as a superintendent after 20 years of service. A devout Christian throughout her life, Doris was an outstanding and dedicated member of the Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Bear, DE.
Admired for her compassionate nature and big heart, Doris loved all people and inspired countless others to follow her example of charity and kindness. She particularly delighted in spending time with her beloved family, especially her grandchildren whom she cherished deeply.
In her leisure hours, she greatly enjoyed dancing, caring for animals, and preaching and teaching the bible to others.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Chambers. She is survived by her children, Yvonne Burgess (Calvin Anthony) of Brooklyn, NY, Delores Cloud of Brooklyn, NY, Torre Cloud of Newark, DE, and Jermaine Cloud of Brooklyn, NY; siblings, Ramona Brown of Davenport, FL, Gilberta Alston of Brooklyn, NY, Arthur Parris of Bronx, NY, and Gregory Parris of Bronx, NY; grandchildren, Monique, Vincent, Quintin, Jasmine, and Jermaine Jr.; and great granddaughter, Victoria.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2101 Red Lion Road, Bear, DE, 19701, where visitation will begin at 1 pm. Interment will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park at 10 am on Monday, May 21, 2012.
