Dorothy P. Pringle, age 100, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 12, 2018.

Born in Erie, PA, on May 5, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Leroy and Grace (Emery) Perkins. She attended a one room country school for eight years. Dorothy worked for room and board in North East, PA to attend high school. During WWII she was employed at Bliley Electric in Erie, PA making crystals for walkie-talkies. Then she attended Orra-Jean Beauty Academy, became a teacher and was employed there for several years.

Dorothy was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. A friend to the community, she volunteered for Soldiers and Sailors Home and V.A. Hospital in Erie, PA, Dover Hospital and the museum at Dover A.F.B. Upon retiring at the age of 65, Dorothy became involved in the Senior Center in Cambridge Springs, PA, where she was introduced to oil painting, water colors, framing and later became an award winning painter. Many of her paintings are displayed at Little Sisters of the Poor, where she resided happily for the past 14 years.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Lasher; as well as her husband of 48 years, Evert Pringle; and her only sibling, Doris Stoddard. She is survived by her three children, Louise Lasher of Oregon, Bruce Pringle (Sylvia) of Pennsylvania and Brian Pringle (Lynn) of Pennsylvania; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 3 pm until 5 pm on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Chapel Church Road, Newark, DE 19713. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Monday, September 17, 2018, in the Chapel at Little Sisters of the Poor. Interment will be held privately at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
