E. Jane James
August 1, 1933 - December 8, 2025
E. Jane James, age 92, of Middletown, DE, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025.
Born in Crisfield, MD on August 1, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Sidney Sterling and Lois (Moore) Price. Jane was a devoted employee of Campbell Soup/Mrs. Paul’s, where she retired after many years of dedicated service.
A servant of the Lord, Jane was a faithful steward at Connection Community Church. She was also very involved with the ladies’ groups. Jane enjoyed volunteering at Emmanuel Dining Hall and was a proud nominee of the Jefferson Award. She extended her compassion and love not only to others, but to animals as well. She also volunteered at The Middletown Senior Center. Jane won a few pie contests entered in the Middletown Peach Festival. She also won a Blue Ribbon for her famous pickled beets one year at The Delaware State Fair. In her spare time, Jane could often be found cheering on her beloved Baltimore Ravens and Orioles. She absolutely loved yard sales and cooking. Jane will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and dear friend to many.
In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her siblings, Phil Sterling, Margaret Sterling, and Sid Sterling. She is survived by her children, Joseph G. James (Cindy) of Parsonsburg, MD and Jeffery James (Joan) of Middletown, DE; granddaughter, Danielle James of Durham, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at Connection Community Church in Middletown, DE, and Janes Island State Park in Crisfield, MD after the holidays.

Jane and I became very good friends in the last few years of her life. She enjoyed spending time out going to the Goodwill and the Dollar tree, Doing her nails, Going out to lunch and getting her hair done. We enjoyed all our time together. I will miss her very much in this life and can’t wait to see her one day in heaven❤️

Mom, your work here is through, but oh how we will miss your laugh, screaming at the TV for the Orioles and the Ravens games and that Fabulous cooking of yours. Ms Jane will be sorely missed at Connection Community Church, where we met. I remember Jane always wanting her donuts after service. She loved to hand out tootsie pops. I still.have one that she gave me om the kitchen table! God loves Ms. Jane.
