Earl Joseph “Joe” Moreau

Earl Joseph “Joe” Moreau, age 68, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 21, 2019.
Born in Marksville, LA on October 17, 1950, Joe was the first son of the late Earlin Joseph Moreau and Elizabeth (Blalock) Moreau. Joe served his country proudly in the U.S. military from about 1968 to 1989. He started his career with four years in the U.S. Marines, including two tours in Vietnam. After a short break in service, Joe enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he enjoyed work as a Nuclear Components Welder and was especially fond of his service on the US Forrestal aircraft carrier. Joe retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. Joe will be lovingly remembered for his sense of humor, quick wit, and generosity as well as his enthusiasm for motorcycles, art, walking, Delaware Park, dining out, and cats.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James C. Moreau. He is survived by his niece, Christina Bannow (husband, John Bannow) and her children, Brandyn and Kaitlyn Napolitano, and Ava Grace Bannow; and niece, Melinda Moreau.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am on Friday, July 5, 2019, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe’s memory to Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Center, 2nd Floor Polly Drummond Shopping Center, Newark, DE 19711.
