Edwin Charles Welsh, Sr., age 86, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 9, 2014.

Born in Darby, Pennsylvania on May 25, 1928, Mr. Welsh was a son of the late Albert L. Welsh, Sr. and Jeanette Pearl Patchell Welsh. He bravely served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Mr. Welsh made his career as a logistics engineer and worked for several local firms until his retirement. He was a true lifelong learner and in his leisure time spent hours studying astronomy, astrology and the weather. He was an enthusiastic coach and mentor to his children when they participated in youth sports and he supported them in everything they did. Above all else, Mr. Welsh was a devoted family man who was happiest in the company of his beloved wife, children and grandchildren and will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Albert L. Welsh, Jr. and 2 sons, Edwin C. Welsh, Jr. and William Billy Welsh. (Donovan) Welsh; children, Penny Welsh (Taunya Land), Alice Theresa Welsh (Alvin Figgs), Eileen Welsh (Cheryl McDermott), Regina Bedo (Frank) and Kelley Georgi (Jonathan); and 4 grandchildren, Joe, Kyle, Alex and Kate.
