Elizabeth A. “Betty” Hoey, age 74, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2012.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, on March 23, 1938, Betty (sometimes fondly known as “Betty Boop”) was the daughter of the late John P. Hoey, Jr. and Anna Marion Anderson Hoey. She made her career as an emergency room clerk with Methodist Hospital in South Philadelphia, where she retired.
A woman of great faith and a devout Catholic throughout her life, Betty was a longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima parish, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was involved in many other parish activities. In her leisure hours, Betty greatly enjoyed cheering each season for the Phillies and listening to the music of her favorite singer, Elvis Presley. She also enjoyed shopping.
Betty is survived by her sister, Patricia M. Klevence of Bryn Mawr, PA; nephew, The Rev. John P. Klevence; niece, Lisa A. Klevence; nephew, Michael F. Klevence and wife Charla; and great nephew, Max Klevence.
Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Sunday, April 15, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Monday, April 16, 2012, at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, 626 Bally Road, Yeadon, PA.
