Elizabeth “Bette” Fuhrman

Mrs. Elizabeth Bette Fuhrman, age 90, of Newark, DE, died on Thursday, April 14, 2011. Born in Simpson, PA, on July 16, 1920, Bette was the daughter of the late Richard Williamson and Hazel Cyphers Williamson. She was a graduate of the Brown Business School in Brooklyn, NY, and was employed as the secretary to the vice president of the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation in the 1940s. Active in her community, Bette was a longtime member of the Limestone Presbyterian Church and the Newark Senior Center. She participated in classes offered by the Academy of Lifelong Learning for many years. She also enjoyed traveling throughout her life. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Stewart Fuhrman, daughter, Deborah S. Helton, and brother, Richard Williamson. She is survived by her son, Lee Stewart Fuhrman and wife, Pam of Newark, DE; brother, Dean Williamson of Hopatcong, NJ; and several nieces and nephews. A committal service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, April 20th, in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
