Ellen P. Pearce

Ellen P. Pearce, age 82, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 3, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Wilmington, DE on May 1, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Willard E. and Marion (Marvel) Pruitt, Jr. Ellen dedicated her career as a switchboard operator for the former Slocum Corporation.
After retirement, she was a school bus aid for many years for the disabled children in the Colonial School District with her fun driver, Sherri. Ellen enjoyed old black and white movies, holidays and especially wearing holiday pins. She will be remembered as an excellent cook and was frequently asked for advice for recipes and cooking tips by family and friends, as well as her good sense of humor and quick wit. Ellen was a member of the Howard Weston Senior Center. She loved to travel to many locations in many states. Above all, she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and dear friend to many.
In addition to her parents, Ellen was preceded in death by her brother, Willard E. Pruitt, III. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Andrew J. Jack Pearce, Jr.; children, Andrew J. Andy Pearce, III (Genie) and Andrea J. Fell (Jeff); sister, Joan Williams (Tom); brother-in-laws, Wilbur Argoe (Joyce) and Jerry Argoe (Julie); sister-in-law, Terri Pruitt; aunt, Jane Dickens; grandson, Andrew J. AJ Pearce; great grandchildren, Grace and Conor Pearce; faithful granddogs, Sammi, Sawyer and Apollo; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Chang-Deguzman and Dr. William Funk for all of the care they provided to Ellen.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ellen’s name to Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, Inc., 100 W. 10th Street, Suite 209, Wilmington, DE 19801.
