Elwood Lewis Ashe, son of the late Louis Hill, mother Harriet M. Ashe Brinkley and stepfather, Edgar Brinkley, Sr. Elwood was born on July 2, 1942 in Armstrong, DE, Elwood departed his life on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at his residence at the age of 79 years.

Elwood received his education from Louis L. Redding School in Middletown, DE. Elwood had various jobs during his life which included a farm hand, construction worker, Rodgers Janitorial Services, and Johnson Controls Inc. in Middletown, DE until his retirement.

Elwood was an avid bowler. Elwood liked talking world news and any kind of sports. His favorite football teams were many including the Philadelphia Eagles, and playing the lotteries and the slots.

Elwood was predeceased by his father, Louis Hill; mother, Harriet M. Ashe Brinkley; stepfather, Edgar Brinkley, Sr.; brothers, Rev. Joseph M. Ashe and Terrance A. Brinkley; sister, Allison E. Brinkley; brother-in-law, Isaiah Smith, Jr.; and sister-in-law, Mildred Ashe.

Elwood leaves to cherish his memory his brothers, Edgar T. Brinkley, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA, Dana A. Brinkley, Sr. of Townsend, Kenneth B. Brinkley, Jr. of Bear, and Gary E. Brinkley of Middletown; two sisters, Dorothea Grinnage of Bear and Bertha E. Smith of Townsend; brother-in-law, Reginald Grinnage of Bear; sisters-in-law, Ida V. Brinkley of Townsend and Diana Brinkley of Bear; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Friday, February 25, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a memorial service will be held at 11 am. Interment will be held privately.
