Ethel June Cael Lewis
Born July 18, 1924
June Lewis, age 91, of Sun City, CA and formerly of Morris Plains, NJ, passed peacefully in her sleep after a short illness on November 22, 2015.
She was born in New Castle, Delaware, on July 18, 1924. She attended P.S. Dupont High School where she was a member of many sport teams and a member of the Girls Leader Corp. She was selected as the Most Outstanding Athlete. After raising her family, she graduated from Kean College in New Jersey and worked as a industrial librarian at Foster Wheeler and AT&T until her retirement.
She had a passion for the environment and all of the creatures that live on this planet. She particularly loved birding and whale watching. She contributed to many environmental groups such as Greenpeace, Habitat for Humanity, ASPCA, and the Audubon Society to mention just a few. She loved and sacrificed for her children so that they would become educated and successful in their lives.
June was preceded in death by a son, Robert and a brother, John Cael. She is survived by two children, Irene and John, both from Southern California; five grandchildren, Natalie, Robert, Andrew, Daniel and Alexa; one great grandchild, Lexi; and one surviving brother, Joe Cael.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday afternoon, December 4, 2015 in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North Dupont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 pm until 2 pm. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park.

Rest in peace Aunt June. I enjoyed the time spent with you, uncle jack, aunt tinnie and my father looking at all the cael family pictures at uncle jacks and tinnies house. I will treasure that day because I got to hear all the Cael stories I never knew about and it was the last time all 3 of you were together..
