My condolences on the passing of Eugene Koveleski. Not sure if I’m related, but the obit said his mother was Verna (Yucha) Koveleski, and he was born in Shamokin, Pa. I’m 66 years old, was born and raised in Shamokin, Pa., and my grandfather’s name was Leon Yucha. He was a coal miner way back when and was married to Mary Tetkoski and they lived their entire lives in Shamokin. My mother’s name is Sylvia Yucha…..and my dad is Leon Bogdan. I know my grandfather had about 13 brothers……but I’m not sure about a sister. What’s interesting as well, is a close friend of my other grandfather, Anthony Bogdan, was Stanley Coveleski, which, if you look up, is in the Baseball Hall of Fame, having pitched for the Yankees back in the 1920’s, and was from Shamokin…..and learned to pitch by throwing pieces of coal into a bucket. I met him at my grandfather’s house one time….and he was quite the guy. Anyway…….Just thought I’d send this message to the family……we may be somehow connected…….. I have been living in Millsboro for the past year….having moved from Morgantown, W.V………but still have ties to Shamokin…… Best wishes to the family….
