Evelyn A. Mason

Mrs. Evelyn A. Mason, age 73, of St. Georges, DE, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2013 at her home.
Born in Wilmington, DE, on July 10, 1940, Evelyn was the eldest daughter of the late John and Dorothy Smilyk. A life-long Delawarean, she attended St. Peter’s Catholic School in New Castle. Evelyn was the first member of the Teamsters Local 470, and managed their office for many years before retiring to raise her family. She later opened and ran her own dress shop, known as Lisa’s Boutique, located in Wilmington Manor.
Evelyn enjoyed traveling and entertaining with her husband Robert, for both business and their volunteer work with the Shriner’s of North America. She adored her beautiful home which the two built in St. Georges on the shores of the C&D Canal, and spent many happy hours feeding the birds and watching the wildlife there.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John. She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Robert R. Mason; son David Macey (Cheryl) of Newark; daughter, Lisa Warenko (Mark) of Joliet, MT; grandchildren, Stephanie Macey-Owens (Bradley) and David John “DJ” of Newark; brother, Richard Smilyk (Barbara) of New Castle; and 2 sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, August 1, 2013, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where family and friends may call from 11 am until 12 Noon. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
