Flora Jane Kibler, age 101, of Newark, DE, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2024.

Born in Michigan on November 13, 1922, she was a daughter of the late George and Millie (Sharp) Lemmon.  Flora loved being a homemaker and raising her children.  Living on Cleveland Avenue for 70 years, she enjoyed seeing the many students and would often make them cookies.  In her younger years, she and her husband enjoyed traveling and going to Broadkill Beach.  She also enjoyed feeding the birds, was an avid reader and coloring in adult coloring books.  Most of all she loved her family and having family meals where everyone enjoyed her lima beans and dumplings, and homemade rolls.

In addition to her parents, Flora was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lawrence Kibler, Sr.; sons, Joseph L. Kibler, Jr., and David J. Kibler; daughter, E. Joan Philipson; and 7 siblings. She is survived by her sons, Ned Kibler (Kate), and Mark Kibler; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 12 pm on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, A graveside service will begin at 12 pm on Friday, May 3, 2024 in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.

  • My thoughts and prayers are with all of your family. I am very fortunate to have shared time with Flora at her home and broadkill. She will truly be missed.

  • To all my beloved family, i am so very sorry to hear Aunt Flora passed away, i remember fun times at her beach cottage and visiting her with my dad before my dad passed away. I remember her coming down to stay with my grand mom Pearson, i would visit them both when she came down.
    I will keep you all in my prayers and see you all tomorrow. Aunt Flora had an exceptional life and was such a wonderful lady.

  • Aunt Flora was a beautiful lady inside and out. She also was a beautiful seamstress. She made many brides beautiful weddings dresses and bride maid dresses.
    She will be missed by many.
