Florence E. Terry

Born: 7/30/1926
Died: 9/1/2011

Mrs. Florence E. Terry, age 85, of Rambleton Acres in New Castle, DE, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2011.
A native Delawarean, Mrs. Terry was born in New Castle on July 30, 1926, daughter of the late John Callaway and Blanch Keith Callaway. She was a talented homemaker throughout her life and had also worked as a hostess for IHOP before her retirement.
Mrs. Terry enjoyed many pastimes, including maintaining a diverse and interesting collection of dolls. She delighted in caring for her pet dogs–a Japanese Chin, a Labrador, and a Shih Tzu—as well as sharing morning coffee with her daughter Doris and neighbor Dawn Worth. She also enjoyed shopping for bargains at local dollar stores and at Walmart. In earlier years, she was very active with her husband’s Knights of Columbus council at St. John the Beloved parish.
Mrs. Terry devoted her life to caring for her family and was at her happiest when spending time with them. It was her greatest source of pride and pleasure that four generations of her beloved family all shared a home together in Rambleton Acres. She will be deeply missed by the many people who loved her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Terry was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Terry, Sr.; brothers, Frank, John, George, and Edward Callaway; and sisters, Betty Leach, Lillian Long, and Mildred Tamone. She is survived by her daughters, Doris Wildes (Arthur), Deborah Moore, and Dorothea Kelly; brothers, Herbert Callaway (Lillian) and Howard Callaway (Pauline); 5 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to special neighbor, friend, and “angel of mercy,” Dawn Worth, RN, for her many kindnesses to Mrs. Terry over the years.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 11:30 am. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Asbury U.M. Church, 300 E. Basin Road, New Castle, DE 19720.
