Floyd A. “Buck” Scott, Sr. - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Floyd A. “Buck” Scott, Sr.

November 13, 1941 - March 29, 2020

Floyd A. “Buck” Scott, Sr., age 78, of Middletown, DE passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2020.

Born in Smryna, DE on November 13, 1941, he was the son of the late Earl F. and Louise (Davis) Scott, Sr. Buck retired in 2003 from Schagrin Gas company after 32 years as a service technician. Buck was a talented craftsman whose abilities were limited not by the material, challenge, nor experience, but the amount of spare time in each day. He got his hands on anything with an engine and was especially fond of his red ‘72 Nova, old gas pumps, and his cool parking meter. Buck could often be found at Street Rod shows with his friend, Darwin. The rest of his time was devoted to loving his family unconditionally, and doing anything he could for them. His greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren and watching them participate in their various activities. He truly adored each and every one of them.

In addition to his parents, Buck has now been reunited with his wife of 47 years, Joyce; granddaughter, Cecilia Dawson; nephews, John and Wayne; and nieces, Donna and Tammy. Buck is survived by his three children, Buck, Jr. (Kendall Scott), Jean (Greg Lockwood) and Peggy (Jerry Dawson); grandchildren, Joshua (Caroline Lockwood), Matthew Lockwood, Rebecca Scott, Robert Dawson and Kate Dawson; great granddaughter, Layne Lockwood; brothers, Earl “Buster” Scott and Terrance “T.R.” Scott; special sister-in-law, Fran (Lee Biddle); and many loving nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Buck will also be missed by his second wife, Dorothy Hall; and his canine companion, Arturo.

Funeral services will be held at a later date at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 E. Main Street, Middletown, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Buck’s memory to Lorelton Assisted Living, where he resided for the last five months receiving loving care from the excellent staff, 2200 W. 4th Street, Wilmington, DE 19805.

I would like to express my sincere sympathies at the passing of Bucky . Many times mom has mentioned him and what a good guy he was . She also has a story about when Bucky was just a young pup and was in deep water and my dad rescued him. • Was so very sorry to hear of Buck’s passing…I always enjoyed when he and Darwin would stop by to see me on their motorcycles back in the day.
I met Buck when he came to do some work on my heating system when he worked at Shagrin. I owned a 1971 Nova so we had something in common to talk about. He, Darwin and I went to the Ocean City car show one year which was quite an experience!
He was one of the nicest people I have ever met.

  • My sincerest condolences to Buck’s family. I only knew Buck through his first wife, Joyce, via Longaberger, but knew Buck well enough to know that he was a smart, kind and determined gentleman. I’ve thought of Buck and his family fondly throughout the years. I know he’ll be missed.

  • It was with deep sadness when we heard the news of Buck’s passing. We both worked with Buck at Schagrin GAS company. He was a great man and always had a smile on his face. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

  • Buck will be missed by many. He was a pleasure to spend time with. He always had the way to make you feel special and what was happening in your world mattered. He was inspirational with his vision and his mechanical abilities of his hands created Hot Rods and motorcycles. Though he was so much more than a Motörhead, his fingerprints run generations as he departs us.

  • Matthew and I were saddened to hear of Pop-Pop Buck’s passing. We are sorry for your loss. The only consolation is that he is reunited with the love of his, Joyce.
