Frances V. Schaen

Mrs. Frances V. (Wright) Schaen, age 84, departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Heartland Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.
Frances was born in Matoaka, WV, on March 4, 1928. She moved to Delaware and met her beloved husband, George Schaen, Jr., while he attended the University of Delaware. She and George married on December 29, 1945, and shared 60 wonderful years together before George’s death in 2006.
In addition to her husband, Frances was preceded in death by her son, Rodger “Rick” Schaen in 2011, and by six brothers and two sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Paul Schaen and his wife Christine; her daughter-in-law, Ruth Schaen; her grandsons, Gregory and Andrew Schaen; her great grandchildren, Andrew and Payton; her sister and best friend, Retha Petty; and many her nieces, nephews, and brothers- and sisters-in-law. (We extend a special thank you to the many family members who showed their abundant love and kindness to Frances; we are so grateful to each of you.)
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in Newark Cemetery on New Street.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Frances’ memory to Heartland Hospice House, 5661 Ochletree Lane, Wilmington, DE 19808. (Her final days were so peaceful at Heartland and we are grateful for their wonderful services.)
