Francis Frederick “Frank” Smulski Jr.

June 26, 1961 - January 9, 2026

Francis Frederick Smulski Jr., known lovingly as Frank, age 64, of Millsboro, Delaware, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on January 9, 2026. He was born on June 26, 1961, in Wilmington, Delaware, to the late Francis Frederick Smulski Sr. and Mary Louise Smulski.

Frank was a proud graduate of Salesianum High School and spent much of his life working as a skilled roofer and carpenter. He took great pride in his craftsmanship and was widely known for his strong work ethic and his ability to fix or build just about anything. Frank’s hands were rarely still, and his work was a reflection of his dedication and care.

Outside of work, Frank found his greatest joy on the water. He loved boating, fishing, and crabbing in the Indian River Bay, where he spent countless happy hours. A passionate sports fan, Frank was devoted to Philadelphia teams—especially the Eagles and, most of all, the Phillies. He also had a simple appreciation for life’s pleasures, particularly cheesesteaks and pizza, which were always among his favorites.

Frank is survived by his loving mother, Mary Louise Smulski; his siblings, Debbie Passwater (Butch), Robert Smulski Sr., Donna MacDougall, and Michael Smulski (Tracy); and his children, Andrea Harrington (Joe) and Jessika Smulski (Matthew). He was a proud grandfather to Anthony Macerato, Andrew Macerato, Matthew Macerato, Joseph Harrington, and William Whisante.

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews: Scott Passwater (Lindsay), Colleen Passwater, Robert Smulski Jr. (Lori), Kevin Smulski, Danielle Smulski, Michael MacDougall, Meghan MacDougall, and Jacob Smulski (Taylor); as well as his great-nieces and great-nephews: Tyler, Missy, Mia, Brayden, Niya, McKenzie, Karter, Ken’dell, Jace, and Hadley.

Frank was preceded in death by his father, Francis Frederick Smulski Sr., and his brother-in-law, Steve MacDougall.

Frank will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his deep love of family, his passion for the water and sports, and his easy going spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A private family viewing will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a Celebration of Life honoring Frank will begin at 1 p.m.
