Francis T. “Frank” Fishbourne, Jr.

August 27, 1938 - October 4, 2021

Francis T. “Frank” Fishbourne, Jr., age 83, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, October 4, 2021 after a brief illness.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on August 27, 1938, Frank was a son of the late Francis T. and Henriette (Burki) Fishbourne, Sr. He graduated from West Catholic High School in Philadelphia, and continued on to complete a 4-year Sheet Metal Apprenticeship program at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. Frank relocated to Delaware in the late 1960’s to raise his family.

He formerly worked at DuPont Experimental Station and Mousley Inc. before joining A&H Metals, Inc. in 1978 as vice president. In 1998, Frank became president of the company until his retirement in 2003. After his retirement, he continued to work part-time with A&H for a number of years.

Frank was involved in the building of Holy Family Church providing ductwork and HVAC services. He was on Parish council and was a Eucharistic minister for the church.  Frank was a member of the Lewes Yacht Club where he and his wife Marguerite spent time while at the beach. He and Marguerite also spent their winters in Naples, Florida along with several close friends. He enjoyed his church, traveling, boating, fishing, crabbing, cooking and preparing holiday meals with his family.  His grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in his heart.

Frank is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marguerite C. (Hoffman) Fishbourne; children, Francis T. “Fran” Fishbourne, III., Donna A. Bishel, Deborah L. Bello (John), and Christianne M. Haggerty (Michael); grandchildren, Joe, Jamie, Hillary, Chelsea, Heather, Ryan, and Meghan; great-grandchildren, Liam, Lacy, Braelynn, and Kinsley; sisters, Marie, Margaret, Elieen, and Catherine; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Gertrude (Trudy) who passed in 1964.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am, on Monday, October 11, 2021 at Holy Family R.C. Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 am. Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance not immunized with the COVID-19 vaccine per the Governor of Delaware. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
