Frank D. Amato, age 91, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Monday, November 8, 2021.

Born in Brooklyn, NY on June 5, 1930, he was a son of the late Alexander and Anna (Castellano) Amato. Frank worked for the New York City police department for 20 years until his retirement. Frank’s family describes him as a one-of-a-kind man filled with love and cherished memories. He loved to tell stories of his childhood. Frank was a proud Korean War veteran who immersed himself in wartime history and was a civil war buff. Outside of spending time with family he enjoyed coin collecting, country music and watching TV and movies.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Leonora (Turkin) Amato; and brother, Alexander Amato, Jr. He is survived by his children, Steven Amato (Susan) of Virginia Beach, VA, Gary M. Amato (Rose) of Broomall, PA, and Jacqualyn S. Eiermann of Middletown, DE; brother, Jerome F. Amato of Long Pond, PA; 8 grandchildren, Leonora (who he lived with), Samantha, Meghan, Kayce, Courtney, Patrick, Jonathan, and Nicholas; and 3 great-grandchildren, Dyllan, Chase, and Zoey.

A committal service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE. Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance regardless of their vaccination status.
