Frank Hetzell

Frank Hetzell, age 79, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Monday, February 16, 2015.
Born in Salem, New Jersey on January 24, 1936, Frank was a son of the late Milford Hetzell and Hilda J. (Giberson) Hetzell. He met his late wife, Esther at the Maryland Skating Center and the two were married on June 21, 1955. Frank made his career as a refinery operator at the former Getty Oil Refinery in Delaware City.
He gave of his time and talents by serving as a scout master for several Boy Scout troops in Delaware City. An avid gardener and bird watcher, Frank adored being outdoors and especially enjoyed taking nature walks. In his leisure time, he enjoyed completing woodworking projects. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather and will be dearly missed by all.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Esther P. Hetzell, son, Harold Hetzell and sister, Janet Nelson. He is survived by his children, Esther Lorraine Newman of New Castle, DE, Mark Hetzell of Bear, DE and Robert Hetzell of Middletown, DE; siblings, Carlton Hetzell (Barbara) of Dover, DE, Bobby Hetzell (Rose) of Raleigh Durham, NC; and Doris Gilbert (Donald) of Middletown, DE; grandchildren, Jennifer Goldsborough (Eric) of Smyrna, DE, Amanda May (Shane) of Orlando, FL, Patrick Hetzell (Roxanna) of Bear, DE and Sara Hetzell of Key West, FL; 5 great grandchildren, Aiden, Jake, Bryson, Caleb and Thomas; many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday morning, February 21, 2015, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home of Wilmington Manor, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Port Penn Road, Port Penn, DE.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Georges United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 145, St. Georges, DE 19733.

We are sorry to hear of Frank’s passing. We were neighbors with Frank, Esther and the family when we lived in Delaware City. Our 2 sons, Brian and Keith, played with the Hetzell children.
