Fred A. Selvage, age 69, of Bear, DE, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019.

Born in Alexandria, VA on June 28, 1949, he was the son of Cora M. (Baker) and the late James F. Selvage. Fred graduated from Blue Mountain Academy in Hamburg, PA and went on to proudly serve his country in the US Army as a medic during the Vietnam War. Following his service he continued his education earning an Associate’s Degree in nursing from Kettering College of Medical Arts in Kettering, OH. Fred dedicated his career as an RN with Christiana Care, helping the lives of many.

Fred enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a talented wood worker in his spare time. Fred was dedicated to his family and will be remembered for his kind personality.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Frank. Fred is survived by his wife of 19 years, Nancy D. Selvage; mother, Cora; children, Kimberly A. Gavin (Gene) of Middletown, Tracey L. Price (Mike) of Newark, Michael J. Blair (Kim) of Middletown, Bethann and Cheryl Lynn Selvage of PA; sisters, Debbie Turville of NY, Alinda Lewris of VA; brother, JB of GA, sister in-law, Dottie of VA; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grand-daughter.

Interment will be held privately in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

    You are the most amazing man I have ever met with the most selfless heart. The day you left this earth you passed my baby girl as she entered (your great granddaughter). Im sad you will never meet her but I find peace in my belief god gave her to me on the 20th so that you two could meet on better terms as she began her enterance to the world. I love you handsome forever and always!
