G. Joann Roberts
November 3, 1934 - July 26, 2020
G. Joann Roberts, age 85, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2020, at Indigo Hall Assisted Living Home. Formerly of Newark, DE, she was currently residing in Charleston, SC.
Born in Williamsburg, PA on November 3, 1934, Joann was a daughter of the late John E. Bumgardner and Dorothy E. (Detwiler) Bumgardner. She was employed with the W. L. Gore Company in Newark, DE, retiring in 1996.
Joann was a longtime member of White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, in Newark, DE, where she was active with many church committees and ministries over the years. Joann was a loving, kind-hearted, selfless person who had a special way of caring for her family and friends. Her compassionate spirit will live on forever. In her leisure hours, Joann enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, knitting, and attending her grandchildren’s sports and school events. She also loved cheering for the Philadelphia Phillies and Penn State Nittany Lions.
In addition to her parents, Joann was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Roberts; her sister, Shirley Rabits; and brother, John Bumgardner. She is survived by her daughter, Karla Roberts Hughes (Jeffrey) of Johns Island, SC; son, Kevin W. Roberts (Marjorie) of Marathon, FL; grandchildren, Ashley Hughes Kmiecinski (John), Ryan Hughes, Courtney Hughes, Morgan Roberts and Bryce Roberts; great-grandchildren, Adalyn, Autumn, and Brandon Lorow and Tessa Leigh Kmiecinski; a nephew, Steven Rabits; and a niece, Dana Greene.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held at 9 am on Saturday, August, 1, 2020, at White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, 15 Polly Drummond Road, Newark, DE. Face masks will be required for all in attendance.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, c/o Christiana Care, P.O. Box 1668, Wilmington, DE 19899.

I remembered the day I met you, you said you didn’t want no other caregiver in your house I asked you to please give me a couple of days then we became like family I hurt me so much when you moved out of Delaware that I had to take a few days off from work, so many laughs jokes plenty of breakfast we ate together I will never forget you RIP love you forever sunshine 💔
