Gene R. Tweed, age 78, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 20, 2018.

Born in Newark, DE on April 5, 1940, he was the son of the late Leonard and Sara (Windle) Tweed.  Gene dedicated his career as a custodian in the Christina School District and retired in 1996 after 32 years of service.

Gene enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and sitting under his Maple tree at his home with his friends.  He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend to many.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Mary H. (Heaton) Tweed.  He is survived by his son, Jerry Lowe, Jr. (Dawn) of St. Georges, DE; grandson, Chad A. Lowe of Middletown, DE; sister, Bertha Cooper of Millsboro, DE; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 am until 10:30 am on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will be held privately in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
