Mr. George C. Ferguson, age 63, of Newark, DE, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013.
Mr. Ferguson was a native Delawarean, born in Wilmington on March 8, 1950, son of the late George M. Ferguson and Helen Nolan Ferguson. He was a graduate of Salesianum High School and would go on to earn degrees at Goldey-Beacom College and Delaware Technical Community College. A talented and compassionate health professional for many years, Mr. Ferguson made his career as a registered nurse in home health care.
Mr. Ferguson was passionate about the study of history throughout his life. An expert in Civil War history, he was a member of the Civil War Roundtable in Wilmington, as well as the 2nd Delaware Volunteer Infantry, a local reenactment group. He was also a former member of the Delaware Blues, a shooting club of the North-South Skirmish Association.
A devout Christian, he was a longtime member of Kingswood United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Deborah Hartsock Ferguson; son, James Wood; sister, Susan of Nottingham, England; grandchildren; and many other extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Kingswood United Methodist Church, 300 Marrows Road, Newark.
