George Dallis Walker, Sr.

George Dallis Walker, Sr., age 91, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, August 26, 2024.

Born in Brack-ex, DE on October 8, 1932, he was a son of the late Alfred duPont Walker, Sr., and Martha Georgia (Little) Walker. George was a graduate of A.I. DuPont High School with the class of 1951. He proudly served in the United States Army as a Private First Class, Ordnance Corps, during the Korean Conflict. George began his career with the Delmarva Power Company as a lineman and retired after 38 years as a manager of line construction and distribution.

First and foremost, George treasured his family and cherished the memories he made with them. He enjoyed being in the outdoors and tending to his yard. He also took an interest in trains and loved helicopter flying with his friend, Harry Griffith. In addition to his other interests, he was a member of Toastmasters International, a life member of the NRA, and a proud member of the Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elaine Colbert Walker; son, Gerald David Walker; and brothers, Alfred D. Walker Jr., Walter C. Walker, William D. Walker, Robert L. Walker, Clifford C. Walker Sr., and Vincent J. Walker. He is survived by his children, Susan Walker Hill (John Daniel III), George D. Walker Jr. (Elizabeth S.), and Kara Walker Streets (Dale A. Sr.); grandchildren, Fauve Elise Hill Figueroa (Marc M.), John Daniel Hill IV (Morgan E.), Dane Walker Hill, Dale Allen Streets Jr., Margaret Elaine Walker, Alexandra Marie Streets, and Anne Elizabeth Walker Malick (Michael A.); and great-grandchildren, Everett Hill Figueroa, John Daniel Hill V “Jack”, Sophie Renate Hill, and August Hill Figueroa. Many loving nieces, nephews and friends also survive him.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2200 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
