George John “Georgie” Young, Jr.

George John “Georgie” Young, Jr., age 55, of Middletown, DE, departed this life on Wednesday, April 1, 2020.
Born in Wilmington, DE on July 28, 1964, he was a son of George J. and Rosa M. Young, Sr. He received his education at the Wallace Wallin School, then at Marshallton Vo-Tech, and finished at Delcastle Vocational High School in Wilmington, DE. It was at Delcastle where he majored in food and dining services which became his career. He worked at the Russell Dining Hall at the University of Delaware for 10 years.
Georgie enjoyed to take pictures everywhere he went, doing puzzles, and listening to music. He also collected model cars and was a whiz at putting them together. Georgie’s true passion in life was cooking. His mother was surprised how much he loved to cook and how skilled he became. Georgie also enjoyed going to the beach and traveling with family. The first train ride to Florida was an exciting event. Above all, Georgie was a very loving person who loved to hang out with family.
Georgie leaves to cherish his memory his sisters, Carolyn Young and Andrea Young; nephews, Jevon Young, André Young, Michael Thomas and Malik Thomas; great nephews and nieces, Jaron Young, MaKenna Butler, LéAndré Butler, Londyn Smith and Loyal Smith; stepchildren, Duane Edwards, Jamar Edwards, Thellie Chamblee, Michael Chamblee, Brian, Shawn, Jamie, Roy and their families; and the family dogs, Kimba and Jada. Kimba always greeted him when he got home from work to hear him say “I love you too Kimba”.
A private service will be held at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE.
