George attended William Penn High School, when he met his teenage sweetheart, Nancy.  George and Nancy shared 65 loving years together, including 62 years of marriage. George was a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished grandfather and great-grandfather.  His devotion to his family was always his top priority.  He also dearly loved his 4-legged family members, Molly and Shadow.

George found great pleasure working in his garage and making things for his family.  He and Nancy always enjoyed spending time with Nancy’s sister, Ruth and her husband, Joe.  He was a member of AF and AM Masonic Lodge in Wilmington. Dedicated to his faith, George was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  George could be found at the kitchen island reading scripture every morning at 5:00 a.m.

George was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, three brothers, and dear friend, Billy Meekins.  He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; his children, George (Moo) Andrews (Stephanie), Sharon Andrews, James (Jimmy) Andrews (Betty), Charles (Scott) Andrews (Wendy); sister, Anna Scites; siblings-in-law, Ruth and Joe Deery, Pat Collins, Charlotte Andrews, Abby Bromwell, and John Bromwell, Sr. (Kim); dear friends, Don Payne and Richard Wilson; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 500 West Chestnut Hill Road, Newark, DE. Interment will be held privately.

  • George (Moo) It’s been many years since we all lived together in Garfield Park, but remember those who were our friends. I was sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. How blessed that he lived many years and that his life was a testament to his love for his Lord. I pray you are surrounded with love and support and precious memories at this time.

  • George, Sharon, Jimmy and family. So sorry for your loss. Your dad was an amazing person. I always admired his adventurism when it came to business. Funny, but one thing sticks out in my mind was his homemade horseradish. Nobody else could come close to his. He was a very kind man.
