George Robert “Bob” Shepheard, Jr.

George Robert “Bob” Shepheard, Jr., age 74, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021.

Born in Wilmington, DE on October 22, 1946, he was a son of the late George R. and Lucille G. (Richards) Shepheard, Sr. Bob ended his career with Asbury United Methodist Church as Treasurer and Operations Manager. Prior too, he worked at Astra Zeneca, Atlantic Aviation and 3M Corp. Bob was also a former model for Boscov’s. He was a dedicated life member of Asbury United Methodist Church, serving on the finance committee and as head usher. Bob was a 32nd degree Mason as well. In his spare time, Bob could often be found playing pool at the New Castle Senior Center. Above all, he cherished spending time with his beloved grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his son, George Robert Shepheard, III (Rachel) of Smyrna; grandchildren, Jaxson Costanzo, Gauge Costanzo and Sloane Shepheard, all of Smyrna; siblings, Diane L. McCloskey (Edward) of Westfield, NJ, Lois A. Rogers (Samuel) of Midlothian, VA, Laurie K. Banaszak (Steven) of New Castle, Rollin R. Shepheard (Debbie) of New Castle and Randy S. Shepheard (Margaret) of Middletown; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 300 East Basin Road, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s memory to Asbury United Methodist Church at the address listed above.
