Gerald D. “Gary” Allen, age 75, of Middletown, DE, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.

Born in Ottumwa, IA on December 29, 1946, he was a son of the late Royal and Pauline Allen, Jr. Gary proudly served his country in the United States Air Force Reserves during Vietnam and Desert Storm. He made a career as a Master Sargeant retiring after 38 years as a flight engineer. Gary also was a diesel mechanic for Oriole Chemical Carriers.

Gary enjoyed being a mechanic both as a profession and a hobby. He loved working on cars and being in the cockpit of an aircraft. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy J. Allen. He is survived by his loving daughters, Daina Parker (Jameson) of Middletown, and Dinae Woodside of Fredrica; grandchildren, Steven and Adrianna Woodside, and Emilia and Miles Parker; and siblings, Sue Sammons (Keith), and Bill Allen (Pam).

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11:30. A committal service will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
