Geraldine Malibiran Aquino - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Geraldine Malibiran Aquino

December 23, 1970 - November 8, 2022

Geraldine Malibiran Aquino, age 51, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

Born in Manila, Philippines, on December 23, 1970, she was a daughter of Grace Malibiran and the late Danilo Malibiran. Geraldine came to the United States when she was 13 years old. New York City was her home for about 10 years until she met the love of her life Ferdinand Aquino, and they moved to St. Louis, Missouri. There, their first daughter, Jessica, was born. Geraldine loved traveling, and they moved several times during her life. In Texas, her second daughter, Allison, was born. Not long after, they made another big move to Delaware, which is where they resided for the last 17 years, and where their youngest daughter, Rachel, was born.

Geraldine was the oldest sister to Dean Malibiran, Percy Malibiran, and Mark Malibiran. Although her family was spread out across the States, her family stayed close. Geraldine was also a graduate of Hunter college. She worked as an accountant specialist for many years, but her last job was at Bank of America.

Geraldine was a hard worker and known as a very caring individual. She loved to laugh at romance comedies, eat out at new places, and listen to new music her daughters would play on car rides. During Geraldine’s leisure time, she enjoyed shopping. She may not have enjoyed cooking or cleaning all the time, but she loved being able to provide a clean household and filling everyone’s stomachs with good food. She always got most excited for Christmas to roll around as it really was the most wonderful time of the year for her. Geraldine would fill the house to its brim with Christmas decorations as soon as the calendar switched to November.

She loved making conversations with the people around her. Whether it was her coworkers or even the cashier at Marshalls, she could bring joy to anyone. Her favorite topic was her family. She could tell stories about her daughters for hours. Her family will miss her eccentric attitude, kind nature, and her hilarious laughter. For anyone who has been a part of her life knows that she was loved and will be missed.

In addition to her mother, Geraldine is survived by her beloved husband, Ferdinand Y. Aquino; loving daughters, Jessica Aquino, Allison Aquino, and Rachel Aquino; and siblings, Percy Malibiran (David) of Outer Banks, NC, Dean Malibiran (Melissa) of San Diego, CA, and Mark Malibiran (Sina) of Minneapolis, MN.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Friday, November 11, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at St. Joseph Parish, 319 East Main Street, Middletown, DE. Interment will be held privately.

After fighting courageously for two years, Geraldine lost her battle with leukemia. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society under her name by clicking here.
